The 24 tooth gears can be turned by a worm gear but can not turn a worm gear.
It takes 24 turns to get back to the start.
A 40 tooth gear needs 40 turns.
A rack gear can move back and forth when a 8 tooth gear is turned.
Wheels with groves are pulleys.
Gears with chains can be use over long distances
like for the New Year's Ball drop at the LEGO City at Marshall University.
