Build the Magic string project from the picture.
The string is not really tied. It is just stuck though the bushing and the the axle is pushed through.
It looks as if a short sting becomes long.
But actually more interesting is the different force you feel pulling each string.
Long and the short of it
"The long string is connected to the 8 tooth gear and the short string
