Transportation - Bridges
Date 090909

I saw an interesting Intelligent transportation vehicles on the way to 4th grade TAG at Central City.

We talked about many was things move and what they move on.
Then we use LEGO Smart pieces to build a cantilever.

Upside down it works for a bridge
but it does not hold together turned over because 2 layers only hold for compression.

Look at the front and back of this two layer project.

Now see if you can work as a group to duplicate it.

Nice idea to hold the first layer still for ease of adding top layer.
Nice job - they are the same,
(except that I did not have the exact pierces in 2 cases).

See if you can make a longer cantilever.

Yes!

Try the challenge with the bridge sets.

This bridge is in the simple machines set.

Triangle are stable and parallelograms

are not.

Three layers - each crack covered above and below - is very strong.

See how long the bridge set can go and still hold a book?
