a(b+c)= ab+ac
Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition

September 6, 2012

Build a 1st class lever device to launch Farmer Dale's hay into his barn.

Points are determined where the hay lays on the game board. (If it lands on a line use the higher number.)
Toss three times. a(b+c)

Add the last two numbers and multiply by the first
or
Multiply first by second and multiply first by third
 and add the two products.
 Example: 2(10+2) is 2 x 12
or 20 + 4
Both have the same answer.  24

The person with the highest total score at the end of the game wins!

Now for some possibly big numbers

raise the first number to the power of the second.

Since the calculator has no exponent function it is fun to figure out short ways to to get the answers.
