May 6, 2005 The visit started up stairs in the City National Bank where the
102 4th graders built a LEGO city with places to live, places to work, and transportation from place to place. There was a computer set up with the pages of links to the LEGO
City downstairs. Groups took turns going downstairs to the LEGO city that is live
on the Internet. On the camera link upstairs those up there could see the students
downstairs. Driving on the Red Rover link four groups at a time actually made
the robotics vehicles move. Fourth grade is just the right age to start LEGO robotics. They would be able to have teams to build and program the FIRST
LEGO League challenge next fall. The Chesapeake Elementary PTA sponsored Field trip
to Marshall University for the four 4th Grades. Most of the students were familiar with some of Linda Hamilton's
LEGO materials from visits
to Chesapeake Elementary in the past but getting to explore the RED ROVER internet connection was great
for them.
