Davis Creek Elementary
LEGO 2001 Miss Adventure Challenge II:  Shelter
MA 2 Shelter Features a Door that raises and lowers with a pet door in the back!

Davis Creek Elementary 5th grade students are working on the LEGO Miss Adventure Challenges.  The scenario is that a ship wreck strands some victims on a deserted, tropical island.  The only supplies available are the items on board the ship and the island's natural resources.  The first challenge is to build a device to get to the island with as much of the ship's supplies as possible.  The second challenge is to construct a shelter on the island.  These three students designed a shelter that opened in the front and had a pet door on the back.  The protractor was used to measure the angle of the side of the shelter.  This measurement was used to build the shelter with LEGOCAD.

Josh & Michael work together to construct their model of the shelter on LEGOCAD
Michael, Charlie, & Josh plan what kind of a shelter they wish to build
Shelter being examined to aid in building with LEGOCAD
Michael correcting a point in LEGOCAD
Monitor showing the LEGOCAD version of the shelter

Our favorite part was building the real LEGO project.
The virtual building was much harder.
The crank of the real LEGO building was the hardest.
