Ramp Cars
Convert Potential Energy into Kinetic Energy
To measure the amount of kinetic energy a car has coming down a ramp of a given height,
students measure how far it traveled.
First one book was placed under the ramp, then 2, then 3, and so on.
Three trials a each height were recorded and averaged.
For the first four books the distance increased.
It was then surprising that steeper ramps gave shorter distances.

Distance cars traveled on a ramp with the back raised to different heights by a book at a time

The graph was made at Davis Creek Elementary using the experiment data from Miller.

Pairs of points were given to Marshall students to find the linear equation that passed through them.
So it was that parts of this project were worked on in three schools.
