Third grade Class at Miller Elementary
December 15, 2004

23 third graders built with the mini sets.
The "experts" from 4th and fifth grade were helpers.
There were 5 4th graders and 6 5th graders.

Gears, levers, wheels and axles, and pulleys are simple machines that are parts of every day machines.

Each group made one of the simple machines

Crown gear is used to change direction of motion.  Wheels moved next to each other can be used to squeeze out water.

Large gears driving small gears makes the design move very fast.  Pulleys change the face.

Pulleys are used in cranes.  Gears are used in Merry go rounds.

Scale uses levers.  This roller conveyer uses wheels.

Air power is used in this pneumatic press.
