The plan was to show how to data log with the RCX
to check out information on distances and light sensor readings.
At first I just talked while the computer was stated up.
Some of the kids had been in a FLL 2005 team.
They knew how helpful information on times, distances, and light sensor
readings would be.
They also knew how easy it is to have one program up and just drag
the needed icons to a current program.
Therefore in the 9 minutes we had before the end of class,
they were able to write a new program
and drop in the data logging icons,
run the program three times and
"see" the needed information.
This graph shows that the robot crossed the yellow line twice two seconds
apart
and the rotation sensor went through 68 sixteenths of a rotation before
the first touch.
Fifth graders can do data gatering quickly and figure out uses for
datalogging.
