Yellow Mini Sets in Third Grade

April 27, 2007
Fourth grade and fifth grade helpers having been practicing in past weeks
to work with the third graders as they build their first simple machine projects.
They were a wonderful help to keep the piece safely on the models and in the sets.
They knew which size of pieces to pick up and how to make sure they were place accurately.

Trying out lever was done carefully.

Pulleys can help move objects.
The crane project was done more quickly than ever before.

Gears can make motion happen at right angles and a different speeds.

Wheels on one single axle are hard to turn but with separate axles turn independently easily.

Two connectors can be used to hold sturdy a horizontal and vertical beams if the distance is two plates.

How do big wheels can how the tractor goes?  What does making the belt into a figure 8 do to?

How far can you pick up an object with this?
