A third grade group tried out the new white simple machine sets.

It has a very nice piece remover that acts as a lever.

These gears work at right angles.  See the crown gear?

Pulleys are used to transfer motion.

WeDo and RCX can be used to run the motorized project.

Power level, direction of motor can be programed.

Also changing the belts can change direction and speed.

The project was checked out in a first grade.

Then the same set was used to make a math machine.

To find out which axle is asked for -
measure it by how many studs long it is.

This game uses a lever to lob the ring onto the playing field
Find the sum - add the two numbers.

Simple Machines in an entire 2nd grade class

This entire 2nd grade worked on gear projects at the same time.
They worked well in pairs.

Gears can change direction or speed of motion.

The entire class worked extremely well.

DUPLO size gears are easier for me to see.

This player took 6 strokes to

get into the room.

Crane car uses worm gear.

This car can turn.

Gears that mesh can be used to crimp paper strips.

WeDo uses smaller pieces.

Now the ball was programmed to moved with a motor.
