Gears
March 30, 2012
This second grade is trying out LEGO educational projects for the first time.
They noticed that the 40 tooth gear has left right symmetry as does the human face.
Beams have an even number of studs. Black axles are an even number of studs lengths.
Gray axles are an odd number of studs lengths.
There are 8 tooth gears The crown gear has 24 teeth.
They each pick a gear project to build.
Gears that mesh can be used to have motion at a distance,
change direction of motion or speed.
Same speed and different direction. Slower and at right angles.
Faster and at right angles.
Crown gears can be used to change the direction of motion at a right angle.
This tool is a lever used to remove pieces.
