SCRATCH and Simple Machines

at 5th Grade
April 20, 2012

Various students worked on pulley projects

and

wheel and axle projects

It is hard to see the difference between single and separate axles

but it is easy to feel how different.

Some of the other students worked on gear and pulley projects.

Gear that mesh can transfer motion at distance.
Large driver and small follower will make the motion faster.

Motion can also be at right angles.

These two built the alligator WeDoTM project.

We used MIT's SCRATCH to program it.
As the real object moves toward the real gator

it moves closer on the screen.

Kiki knows the gator is very nice.

Kiss, kiss
