Solar Car
and Photo Gates

February 10, 2006

These three math students are building a car to run on solar power.

We can program it to go with the electricity through the RCX.
It is fun to watch on the camera through RoboLab.
There is a camera at Marshall on RoboLab also. Internet camera at 206.212.61.170

is the camera on the right.

Adding a solar panel produces electricity only in the sun light.

Time how long it takes to go the whole distance.
Changing the angle changes the time.

The next two students wrote a program to run two photo gates.
A light across from a light sensor is the photogate at the start and there is another at the end.

Now we can read the time from the RCX.

The light inside is getting harder to use so we went outside.
It is hard to get the start without making a shadow.  We need another road plate for the beginning.

Back inside.
She has connected to the LEGO City from home. She is sending a program to SENSORSCITY to
the RCX that makes the skaters go.

One skater is on a heart.

February at the LEGO City has a Valentine and the Olympics.
