It is possible to make a purely mechanical way to lift something.
Since there is something to bump into behind the submarine
a lever with rubber band can hook the sub.
Gearing up is helpful to increase speed. Here it is used to spin a top.
Gears can be used to change direction.
Here the wheels move on the table orthogonal to the rotating satellite dish on top.
Note the use of magnets.
