LEGO Day

August 10, 2006
Girl scouts and some friends got together for LEGO building and team building.
There is a great future for this group as a FIRST LEGO League team in a few years.
The parents and scout troop are working early to interest the girls in
science and technology.

The introductory project was to make mosaics.

The LEGO Soft are very big. Building techniques such as covering across cracks for stability are easy to show.
The chair is sturdy enough for an adult.

The house was even large enough for many.

The early gears are a great size for explanations.
Turning one size gears feels much different than the other.
The kids made hats and hair, bracelets and necklaces.

How high can you go? How big a chair can you make?

Projects were set up in both rooms.

Farms

Tubes and balls.

The big activity was the train.

The track ws set up so that it was complete and safe. Then the switches were checked out.

The Intelligent Train uses computer chips to "talk" to the filling station, passenger station, and others.

Cargo containers each have different sounds.

Passengers and packages get on and off.
It has been a busy day.

It was nice to play with the train set up.
Thank you.
