ROBOTICS

Students participate in small-team design projects while fostering an understanding of science and physical principles for robotics and computer programming. Projects are structured to allow students to work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having fun.  Each child is encouraged to work within his/her own abilities and explore new approaches and understandings along the way.

For Ages 9 years old and up - especially those interested in being in FIRST LEGO League teams in the fall.

Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:

·         Learn teamwork and troubleshooting techniques as you experiment with Robotics.
·         Learn how to identify problems, use teamwork, and use creativity to program Robots to perform exciting missions and tasks.
·         Program robots using input information from sensors.
 

Learning outcomes measurement: Students will demonstrate robots programmed to complete the missions.

Course Length: 5 days/one week

YOUNG BUILDERS

The group will make cities, farms, zoo, trains, and transportation to solve challenges.

For ages 4 � 8 years old.

Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:

·         Learn teamwork by dividing into groups and creating new projects.
·         Identify problems and engineer solutions using the discovery learning method.
·         Develop basic creative and critical reasoning skills necessary for personal and academic success.
 

Learning outcomes measurement: Students will show their building solutions to the theme challenges.

Course Length: 5 days/one week
Course Materials: use of materials provided - LEGO® Educational - Duplo® materials - TOOLO, blocks, gears, etc.
Course Enrollment: Minimum enrollment: 5      Maximum enrollment: 12

TECHNOLOGY BUILDING

Students will learn about gears, pulleys, levers, wheels and axles by building dozens of working models.
This is a great way to learn the underlining engineering basics for robotics projects.

For ages 9 � 12 years old. (and 6 to 9 year olds interested in Jr.FLL)

Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will:

·         Learn teamwork by dividing into groups and creating new projects.
·         Identify problems and engineer solutions using the discovery learning method.
·         Develop basic creative and critical reasoning skills necessary for personal and academic success.
 

Learning outcomes measurement: Students will demonstrate the successful operation of their models.
 

Course Length: 5 days/one week
Course Materials: use of materials provided -LEGO® Educational motorized simple machine sets, etc.
Course Enrollment: Minimum enrollment: 5       Maximum enrollment: 12
