Snow Removal

December 21, 2005

The road is covered with snow.  How can we clear it off?

Following the line does move the snow off the road,
though that was not at all what I had in mind.
Going forward until dark works
if the the snow happened to all be in one line.

Two different line following programs were tried and worked.
The light sensor reading for the line were about 44
and for the white were about 54.
The average was used for a program that used a light sensor fork.
One student spent much time finding the highest and lowest value
the light sensor read in the room.
Since he was using Investigator,
he could upload the data and view the numbers.
The VIEW on the RCX screen can be watched as it bounces around.

The robot could find the line and follow it.
The hard part was figuring out the decision value for the fork ahead of time.

If the robot started on the line, the program above worked without
having to find an absolute value before hand.
