Supplementary Angles

April 23, 2007

Measure chair angles. http://netapps.marshall.edu/lego/lessonplans/ChairAngles/ChairAngles.html

One group measured the angle behind the chair.
That started the discussion on supplementary angles since the 2 angles made a straight angle.
Since the measurements were only approximations it took a while before the relationship was figured out.
The 2 angles' measures were supposed to add up the 180 degrees.
Looking at the 2 parts of the compass helped except that one way was mirror writing of the other.

Another interesting happening was that it was easy to assume the numbers were nice round multiples of 5.
But that would make the 7th angle off by a noticeable amount.
