Generator Car

January 20, 2011

The last car moved by strain energy.
Today they are making a motorized car to run by hand generated energy saved in a capacitor..

I have three different kinds of motors.
The first build of  the car is with the large motor.

The generator on the lowest gearing can work to move the car.

A nearly full charge moves the car less than 2 feet.

We changed the car to the small motor.

It went much farther.

With 100 Joules

the car with the lamps went 13 feet.

The rest of the class are doing the slot car experiment.
It uses the energy from a falling weight connected to a string wrapped around the wheel axle with different diameters.

Next week we will try making some plays.
