These kids are going to build 1st class, 2nd class, and 3rd class levers.
2 plates between two beams allow for 2 friction connectors in a beam at right angles.
This is used to make a stable horizontal to vertical connection.
How far the load is away from the fulcrum makes a big difference in the amount of effort need to move it.
A pencil weighs the same as 17 beans.
With a heavy counter weight, large load can be compared.
