This third grade class tried out the gear projects of the new LEGO® Education simple machine sets.
After making the combinations of gear trains,
the whole class counted the number of turns the indicator went with one turn of the handle.
They noted the direction they were going.
One gear train was one turn to five.

One merry go rounds was 3 to 1.
Many different gear trains can be made.
