Levers for Multiplication Game

January 19, 2012

One entire third grade class worked on simple machines today.

The unit of measure for LEGO projects is the stud (bump on top of a plate or beam).
Axles are measured by how many studs long they are.

One group made the merry go round.

Others made various lever projects.

They changed the position of the axle that is the fulcrum or point that the lever pivots around
to a place they liked for the best way to toss a ring.

Each took a turn flinging the ring.
If it is off the playing field it counts as 2.  If it lands on a line take the higher number.
The two numbers were multiplied together for the score.

Repeat 5 turns and add the 5 sums.

This clever tool can remove tiles and plates.
