The goal was to make a figure 8 on the desktop.
One way the car could be built made that very easy.
The cars were very different even though they looked the same.
If the front wheels were on separate axles they turned easily.
If the front wheels were connected with a single axle they moved together and did not turn easily because there was a LOT of friction.
