Simple Machines
Gears

April 4, 2012

Another third grade is trying out simple machines.

Today we are working on gears.

Gears can change direction of motion and distance from the driver.
The front project on the left has 1 to 1 motion in opposite directions.
The projects on the left have driver gear and follower gear go the same speed and direction.
The larger idler gear just makes the distance longer.

This is serious business. Engineering - not toys.

Gears can be used to make acrobats.

They can be programmed to do their routine.
