Today was the first day for the 3rd grade class
at Miller Elementary to work with LEGO Educational materials.
They were helped by some of the 4th and 5th graders as well as Juan and Mrs. Hamilton.
They learned that the materials are to be handled the was they would science materials.
Everything has a place.  It is importation to know the correct names of elements
such as pulleys and gears and how to measure axles.
The students actively learned how the simple machines worked.
Changing where the fulcrum is placed on levers makes a big difference.
Pulleys can be used to change direction of force. Gears can be used to change speed.
