Nick J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute K-12 Outreach with hands on LEGO robotics and Web interactive site with teleoperating and remote sensing, webpage photo documentation, and teacher/student lesson plans for transportation jobs, math, science, engineering, and technology.

I will coordinate Web pages development and improvements to lesson plans for Transportation education through hands on modeling, programming and web teleoperation of LEGO robotic transportation.  Lesson plans will increasingly have West Virginia State Curriculum Standards and Objectives links included from the  Nick J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute LEGO pages.

I will do training with Marshall University Students that work with me in k-12 outreach.
I will train interested teachers and parents and work with Girl Scout, after school enrichment at Peyton and others, and Junior Achievement activities.
 

Number of persons to be served   2 - 28 each session
Described what training will be done: Math / science training including RoboLab programming.

What material will be used? LEGO Dacta materials: LEGO Dacta Simple machines, Motorized Simple Machines, and Robotics including Cities and Transportation sets.
Describe the anticipated outcome of training: Students will be able to implement activities and lesson plans that include hands on math and science.  Small groups work with the building, RoboLab programming and teleoperation of the internet resources of SENSORSCITY.

Saturday Camps

Other public service will be at Success by Six, Libraries, Boys and Girls Clubs, and others that often involve the use of  LEGO DUPLO materials that I myself own.

Approximately 25 hours per week at $31.25 per hour for 16 weeks of Spring 2006 = $12500
Requested salary:  $8000
$4500 as donation to RTI.
