Everyone knows that traffic from a busy street to a side street is controlled by traffic lights.
But what controls the traffic lights?  Believe it or not, it is something very like what controls
the LEGO traffic lights!

While driving, Linda Hamilton stopped at the intersection of U.S. 60 and ALT. 10 where she found -

Granville Stickler who was doing some
work on the traffic lights.

While these masses of wire may look confusing -

Granville explained that the traffic lights ran off of programs in small  computers- Just like the LEGO Intelligent Bricks we use!

They also use magnetic sensors (loops) embedded into the roadway to determine if there is a car.

Look for these boxes at intersections.
Thank you, Granville!

Check out how the traffic signals at the mall are controlled.
