Fishing Pole

April 2, 2012

The Monday TAG classes at Village of Barboursville  and Spring Hill played a math game with magnet fishing poles.
The answers to some jokes are coded.
They fished for the "answers".

They made LEGO fishing poles.
There is a metal hook in this set
but it is not magnet and will not get picked up by a magnet.

The metal weight can be picked up with the LEGO magnet.

LEGO magnet blocks or added magnet elements do work.
You could also just tape on regular magnets.

What is a platypus at the North Pole called?
Strips of paper with equations were  taped to the bottom of some fish.
The fish were "caught"
and the numbers figured out by the class.

The numbers were
matched to a letter.
Then they had to rearrange the letters to figure out the answer.

Here was  the other joke.

The class at Spring Hill moved around the instructions using LEGO Digital Designer.

Then they made their own fishing poles.

The second joke was
What is Sponge Bob's favorite card game?

7x3-12=
9x2-11=
8x4-13=
5x3-7=
