�Before I start talking about our NASA Outreach Mars Red Rover Project I need to say that Davis Creek Elementary�s 5th grade went to Mars this year!�
We started the project with the idea of helping students develop science and math skills that will lead them to productive careers. We applied for the NASA K12 Outreach Grant two years ago and were awarded the grant. We used young people�s current interest in space exploration as our focus. Mars is particularly in the spotlight as an attractive target. After an introductory period on simple machines the space theme took off.
